A truck with its raised crane touching power lines can be seen out the front of a house in Auckland’s north-west where a person has died.

The incident took place on Tauhinu Rd in Greenhithe around 3.23pm today.

“Police are responding to a report of a sudden death, the road is currently closed,” police said.

St John said it sent one ambulance, one rapid response unit and one operations manager to the scene.

Police and road workers have closed off a section of Tauhinu Rd between State Highway 1B and Pounamu Ave.

“Staff are still at the scene making enquiries around the circumstances, at this stage they aren’t suspicious.”

The Hiab truck’s crane hit the power line out the front of a home under construction.

Homes in the area are without power.
